Our Taste of Orkney initiative works with local food and drink producers in the Orkney islands to bring our world class products to the attention of discerning food lovers everywhere.
The Taste of Orkney visitor guide, published annually, is designed to raise awareness of locally availably food and drink.
Restaurants, bars and cafes applying for membership will need to provide evidence that they use local food and drink wherever and whenever possible in order to qualify for membership of Taste of Orkney.
In return, members will be included in a high profile visitors' guide that will list all members and provide a brief description of the specialities of each member. The guide will be made widely available to Orkney's visitors from April onwards and will be reprinted each year with an updated list of establishments that have qualified for inclusion in that year.
This is a direct response to comments received from visitors who want a much easier way of identifying places to eat that offer healthy eating menus where they can be sure of being served local produce.
